How many times last year has your management team determined that your organization was too busy to tackle a continuous improvement project. It might also be the last thing on our mind during these difficult times. But this is the right time! Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have time now to focus on those projects that will make us more efficient when we gear up for this summer’s surge in volume. 5S is a simple project to undertake. Let’s get rid of the clutter, organize our tools, do that maintenance that was overdue, maybe reorganize our layout. Let’s update our software platform so we can more effectively track our costs, throughput time and cycle time. Maybe negotiate better contracts with our suppliers. Let’s think out of the box and use this time effectively.
